Maker Carnival Chennai is a free to attend, community run event, which will be held on Saturday March 10th, 2018 on the American International School Chennai Campus at Taramani. More details found at www.aischennai.org/makercarnival/
Maker Carnival Chennai takes the form of a “Show, Tell, and Do” experience where inventors/makers sourced through an open call, will have an opportunity to showcase their creations in a fairground atmosphere, and invite the participants to have a go too.
It is a family friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the maker movement.
Imagin8ors is proud to partner American International School Chennai and bring our popular community making activity Arcademia to the Maker Carnival!
We welcome all families in Chennai to come and make with us!
Bring back some old school fun in this digital age. Children and parents can recreate old arcade favourites like hook fishing and foosball or let their imagination run free to create their own arcade games. We use recycled materials as much as possible and encourage you too bring card-board and old battery operated motorized toys to add to the experience.
We tailor our Arcademia experience to children 4-10 years old and parents. Older children and makers will definitely be able to work with the materials and build something more involved or complex.
We have a team of experienced facilitators who will guide you and your child to get started. You can try your hand at any of three activities and springboard off them anytime to build your own games.
Brush Bot Race
Mount tiny motors on snipped-up toothbrushes to design your own Brush Bot. Build race tracks, complete with obstacles and dangers, to simulate races between these autonomous brush bots.
Catapult Slam Dunk
Use everyday material to come up with a free-standing catapult that launches projectiles into targets marked with points. Teams can design catapults, and challenge each other in a Slam Dunk contest.
Wacky Controllers use the popular Makey Makey invention kit to make creative controllers for one of two well-known Arcade games viz. Pacman and Super Mario Bros. The games themselves are written in the Scratch programming language. Game controllers can be improvised using commonly available materials.
