Children absorb things fast, and they bring out their knowledge in the most remarkable of ways.
Here is the story of Nirmay and his amazing learning from nature, telling his mother: “Mama, See How I Grow!”
As Bharti was watering her plants, she noticed her four-year-old son Nirmay crouch down next to the flower pots. “Mom, I’m a plant too! Water me too!” he cooed. In an indulgent mood, Bharti gently sprinkled some water on Nirmay. As the water fell on him, he slowly started straightening up. “Mom, see! I’m growing too.”
The stories my dear friend Bharti shares about her son Nirmay always make me smile. But after the initial laugh, I am also intrigued by the boy’s ability to apply knowledge to his endearing antics. Here was the concept of growth demonstrated in the simplest, most effective way!
Has your child ever demonstrated a science concept or principle like this? Do share!
